Quick Start
Barometer is purely analytical — it passes audio through unchanged with zero latency. Here's how to use it.
1
Insert on your master bus
Add Barometer as the last insert on your master bus (or any track you want to monitor). It adds zero latency and passes audio through unchanged — it's purely a measurement tool.
2
Read the meters
Play your track and watch the meters. The main readouts are:
- •Integrated LUFS — cumulative average loudness from start of playback
- •True Peak — highest inter-sample peak detected (should stay below -1 dBTP for streaming)
- •Momentary LUFS — real-time loudness (400 ms window)
3
Check your targets
Compare your readings against platform targets:
| Platform | Target | True Peak |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify | -14 LUFS | -1 dBTP |
| Apple Music | -16 LUFS | -1 dBTP |
| YouTube | -14 LUFS | -1 dBTP |
| Broadcast (EBU) | -23 LUFS | -1 dBTP |
4
Gain-stage with the built-in tools
Use Barometer's utility controls to prep your mix:
- •Gain — adjust input level (-96 to +24 dB)
- •Mono — check mono compatibility
- •Phase — invert polarity to check phase issues
- •DC Filter — remove DC offset (5 Hz HPF)
