Plugin Not Appearing in DAW
If your plugin doesn't show up after installation, verify the install location and rescan from your DAW.
Verify installation paths
- VST3:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/(macOS) orC:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\(Windows) - AU:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/(macOS only)
Rescan plugins in your DAW
- Logic Pro: Preferences → Plug-in Manager → Reset & Rescan
- Ableton Live: Preferences → Plug-ins → Rescan
- Cubase: Studio → VST Plug-in Manager → Rescan
- Reaper: Options → Preferences → Plug-ins → Re-scan
- Pro Tools: Restart Pro Tools (automatic scan)
Force AU rescan on macOS
If AU plugins are not appearing, run the following command in Terminal to clear the AU cache:
killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar
Restart your DAW after installing new plugins.
Lost License / Need to Restore
Your licenses are tied to your Bellweather account and can always be recovered.
- Open Weather Station and sign in with your Bellweather account
- Weather Station automatically syncs your licenses from your account
- Your
.bwkeyfile will be re-created at~/Library/Application Support/Bellweather/ - If you don't have Weather Station, download it from the downloads page
- Your license keys are always available on your account page
Gatekeeper Warning / Unidentified Developer
All Bellweather plugins and Weather Station are signed and notarized by Apple.
- If you see this warning, the file may have been modified or downloaded from an untrusted source
- Re-download from the official website or through Weather Station
Plugin Loads But No Audio
If the plugin opens but you hear no audio output, check the following:
- Check your DAW's routing (input/output assignment)
- For Pressure: if you see a “TRIAL” indicator, your license needs activation. Open Weather Station and sign in.
- Verify your audio interface is selected in DAW preferences
- Check that the plugin is inserted on the correct track
Can't Activate License
Having trouble activating your license key? Try these steps:
- Check that you're entering the correct license key (available at bellweather-studios.com/account)
- Each license allows up to 3 machines. If all slots are used, deactivate one at bellweather-studios.com/account
- If you're offline, Weather Station uses cached validation for 7 days. Connect to the internet to refresh.
Seeing Duplicate Plugins
If you see duplicate entries for a Bellweather plugin in your DAW, this usually means an older version was not fully removed before updating.
- Weather Station automatically overwrites older versions when installing updates. If duplicates persist, try uninstalling via Weather Station and reinstalling.
- Some DAWs show both VST3 and AU versions of the same plugin. This is normal — use whichever format your DAW prefers.
- Check for stale copies in the plugin directories:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3//Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
- After removing duplicates, force a plugin rescan in your DAW (see “Plugin Not Appearing in DAW” above for DAW-specific instructions).
- On macOS, run
killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrarin Terminal to clear the AU cache, then restart your DAW.
